Indian pace bowler Keegan Petersen said that the South African hitters are constantly on their toes because of India’s pace battery, adding that the hosts must maintain their focus when facing them.
Indian speed bowlers have been the most difficult he has faced in his career, according to South Africa batsman Keegan Petersen. When Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli combined with Jasprit Bumrah’s strong bowling performance, India was able to gain some gap on South Africa on Wednesday in the current third Test at Newlands in Cape Town.
According to Petersen, India’s fast bowlers keep the South African hitters constantly on their toes, therefore the hosts must maintain their attention when facing the group.
“(The Indian speed assault) is incredibly difficult. It’s the most difficult job I’ve ever had. If you don’t stay on top of your game, “they will expose you,” Petersen stated in the post-game press conference.
“They put you to the test by giving you few opportunities to score. They haven’t done a whole lot for us. One of the best bowling attacks in the world, in my opinion. Because we were aware of it going into the series, we were prepared to cope with the difficulties that have arisen,” he said.
Petersen hit 72 in the first innings and was South Africa’s leading run-scorer as the tourists were bowled out for 210 in their innings. Despite his preference for third base, the right-handed batter indicated he was content to remain in the starting XI for the time being.
“I’ve batted at number three for the majority of my professional career, and I enjoy it. Petersen noted on Wednesday that “in terms of losing early wickets, we have two high-quality opening batters, they’re just having a tough time.”
As for Aiden, he’s going through a hard spell right now, but he’s a terrific player and we all know that Dean (Elgar) will emerge triumphant in the end.
As he put it, he was “unconcerned” and “glad to be in the mix to play” and “excited to make number three my,” he added.
At the close of play, India had a score of 57/2, with the visitors up by 70 runs. There is now no one at the crease who has been beaten by Kohli (14) and Pujara (9).
India openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal put on a 20-run stand after taking a 13-run lead, and Kagiso Rabada ultimately broke the stand by dismissing Mayank (7). India was reduced to 24/2 as Marco Jansen defeated KL Rahul (10) in the next over.
Kumar and Pujara rallied the Indian innings and made sure that India did not lose any wickets before the close of play.”
