Daniel Sams replaces Travis Head in the Australian T20I squad for the match against Sri Lanka. Playing in a Sheffield Shield match will be Head.
Daniel Sams, an all-rounder, has been added to Australia’s T20I squad ahead of Friday’s matchup with Sri Lanka. Sams has been added to the team to fill in for Travis Head, who will miss the start of the T20I series to play for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match before the Pakistani tour. Head last appeared in a Twenty20 match in 2018, but he got called up to play against Sri Lanka this summer. Ahead of Australia’s upcoming visit to Pakistan, he had made the conscious decision to play some first-class cricket.
There are four T20I matches and a strong BBL season with Thunder, where Sams was their leading wicket-taker with 19 and also smashed 98 off 44 balls against the Melbourne Renegades in the Thunder’s first match back.
The T20I series between Australia and Sri Lanka will begin on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the second match against Melbourne, Head will join the team.
