When India and Pakistan played in the previous T20 World Cups, India had won all five matches. However, Pakistan ruthlessly ended India’s dominance by defeating them by a score of 10 wickets and setting the tone early in the tournament.
Shami has also received encouragement from India’s legendary fast bowler Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan tweeted, “We love you @MdShami11!”
Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner who has shared the field with Shami on numerous occasions, also lent his support to the paceman on Twitter. ‘We’re so proud of you, @MdShami11 bhaiya,’ Chahal wrote.
Having finished as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League with 19 scalps from 14 games, Shami was selected for the ICC T20 World Cup squad after a successful season in the IPL.
India will play New Zealand in their next T20 World Cup match.
