The West Indies have appointed Nicholas Pooran as their new ODI and T20I captain.
After Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket lately, Nicholas Pooran, a left-handed batsman, has been named the new West Indies ODI and Twenty20 International (T20I) captain. Pollard’s international retirement means that “Nicholas Pooran will lead the West Indies ODI and T20I squads,” Cricket West Indies announced in a statement. Pooran previously served as a vice-captain to all-rounder Pollard in the limited-overs formats when he was the team’s captain.

Shai Hope, a wicketkeeper-batter, has been named the new vice-captain in One-Day Internationals.
‘We believe Nicholas is ready for the challenge of leading our white-ball teams’, CWI Cricket Director Jimmy Adams was quoted as saying.
“After the absence of Kieron Pollard from both squads, the Selection Panel believes that Nicholas has developed as a player. As a result of his time spent playing in various franchise leagues throughout the world, he was recommended for the T20 captaincy by his team’s coaches “he went on to say.
