Faf du Plessis of the Quetta Gladiators was concussed during Peshawar Zalmi’s match against the Gladiators. He gave his fans the heads-up on Twitter that he was recovering.
To the relief of the cricket community, Faf du Plessis announced that he was out of the hospital and recovering from a concussion he suffered during his team’s PSL match on Sunday, which saw Quetta Gladiators’ take on Peshawar Zalmi. During their PSL match on Saturday night, Du Plessis tried to save a boundary, but he collided with his teammate Mohammad Hasnain instead. Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers remained prone on the ground for a few minutes while the team’s physiotherapist attended to him, following the freak accident.
Eventually, Du Plessis stood up and made his way back to the dugout, where he was examined and taken to the hospital for further scans.
“I am extremely grateful for all of the kind words and messages of support. I’ve just arrived at the hotel, and I’m recuperating. I’ve suffered a concussion, but aside from that, I’m OK. hopefully, I will be able to return to the field soon. Lots of love “Du Plessis posted a tweet.
The seasoned 36-year-old Protea batsman was ruled out of the game and was therefore replaced in the Gladiators XI by Saim Ayub. The Gladiators have suffered another concussion in two days.
Du Du Plessis’ head made contact with Hasnain’s knee during the 19th over of Peshawar innings. Before that, the South Africa cricketer fell to the ground. Du Plessis got stuck as he was trying to prevent a boundary.
The Imari Du Plessis’ wife Imari told a story about it on Instagram and included these words: “I’m dying here, literally. Is he supposed to be hospitalized?” For the second time in two days, the Gladiators used a concussion substitute.
While batting against Islamabad United in their final game of the tournament, all-rounder Andre Russell was hit in the helmet by a Mohammad Musa bouncer. Naseem Shah replaced him. Due to not being available for selection for Saturday’s match against Zalmi, Russell was not considered for inclusion.
Du Plessis has been playing PSL games again, having last appeared on December 6, 2017. He had tallied five in a loss for the Gladiators as the Gladiators fell by ten wickets.
In the seven matches in the IPL 2021 that preceded his return to the PSL, du Plessis amassed an astounding 320 runs, four consecutive half-centuries, and helped his new team, the Chennai Super Kings, maintain their place in the top four of the competition.
