Despite being the hero of KKR’s historic win over GT, left-arm GT pacer Yash Dayal looked dejected after being on the receiving end of Rinku Singh’s havoc in the final over.
On Sunday, all-arounder Rinku Singh led his Kolkata Knight Riders team to a stunning three-wicket win over the defending champions Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2023 match by smashing five sixes in the final five balls. KKR needed to score 29 runs in the last over to win, and almost no one saw it happening. Rinku, who was given the strike after Umesh Yadav hit a single off the first ball, ended the game by smashing five sixes off the next five balls.
Despite the victory, left-arm GT pacer Yash Dayal, who was on the receiving end of Rinku’s devastation in the final over, was obviously dejected.
In a recent interview, Rinku discussed his time spent consoling Yash Dayal while they were teammates on the Uttar Pradesh cricket team.
In an interview with India Today, Rinku Singh said, “I contacted Yash after the game, saying it happens in cricket, you did pretty well last year, I just tried to motivate him a little.”
The KKR squad took some time after the game to send a message of support to Dayal.
“Keep your chin up, young man. It’s just another day at the office, and even the finest cricket players occasionally have off days. You’re a fighter, and you’ll get back on your feet, Yash “according to KKR’s tweet.
On the last over, Rinku hit sixes off each of the first three deliveries he faced, all of which were full tosses.
Dayal bowled a slower length ball when Rinku needed 10 runs off 2 balls, but Rinku smashed it over the fence, too. With the game on the line, Rinku smashed the final ball of the match, a back-of-the-length slower ball, over long-on.
