On Monday, the Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the Indian Premier League 2022.
On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders hope to break their five-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League by finding a winning combination against Rajasthan Royals. When it comes to Venkatesh Iyer’s second-season slump, KKR has been forced to make numerous adjustments to the top order.
Despite a stellar season that saw him earn a place on India’s national squad, Venkatesh’s performances have been disappointing. The squad tried him in the middle order after his problems at the top, but that also did not succeed.
In the most recent game, the southpaw was back in the starting lineup opposite Aaron Finch, but his running ability failed him once again.
As things stand right now, it is unlikely that KKR will make the playoffs. They must select and stick with their best XI for the balance of the season.
Since so many players are out with various injuries, it’s been difficult to put together an effective lineup. You can’t be too cautious with the bat if you want to win.
As skipper Shreyas Iyer put it after the final game: “Five more matches remain. We must play well, show faith in the team, and give back something to them and to the management.
A batting average of 36.25 with 290 runs is respectable for Shreyas, but he hasn’t gotten much help from the rest of the team. Shreyas has shown promise in his first season as KKR captain, but he has to urge his players to turn things around.
Besides Venkatesh, Varun Chakaravarthy’s poor performance has harmed the team. Even though they had dropped him in the previous game, KKR lost their fifth straight game.
Sunil Narine and Sunil Yadav have both been excellent this season, and they will be looking to keep Jos Buttler quiet in this match.
They rely heavily on Buttler, who has scored 566 runs at an average of 70.75 for Rajasthan. Sanju Samson, the captain, must step up and be more consistent in the absence of Englishman Joe Allen, who cannot be expected to score in every game.
In their previous match against Mumbai Indians, they were unable to keep 159 in the field owing to excessive dew.
Rajasthan’s bowling arsenal, led by Yuzvendra Chahal and including R Ashwin, Trent Boult, and Prasidh Krishna, is capable of holding its own against even the lowest of totals.
However, the Royals will be hoping for a much better batting effort in order to minimize the dew impact in the upcoming match.
All-rounder Shreyas Iyer (captain), Aaron Finch, Abhijeet Tomar, Ajinkya Rahane, Baba Indrajith, Nitish Rana, Ashok Sharma, Pat Cummins, Rasikh Dar, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, Mohammed Nabi, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Kumar, Venkatesh Iyer, Sam Billings and Sheldon Jackson of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, and Devdutt Padikkal make up the core of the Rajasthan Royals’ 2022 IPL squad.
