Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli posed for a picture with RCB.

When it comes to IPL 2022, Faf du Plessis is one of the many new faces who will be lining up for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). IPL mega auction last month saw the purchase of the former Chennai Super Kings star for Rs 7 crore.

Assailants of the Crown Virat Kohli stepped down as captain of Bangalore at the end of last year’s IPL season, hence a new captain will lead the team in the upcoming IPL 2022 season. RCB has reached three finals, but no IPL championship, so the new captain has his work cut out for him right away.

Faf du Plessis, a South African legend, will be one of several new faces in the RCB jersey this season. At last month’s IPL mega auction, RCB acquired the former Chennai Super Kings star for Rs 7 crore.

In spite of CSK’s best efforts, RCB made it obvious that du Plessis was their priority. As a former captain of South Africa’s national cricket team, many believe that du Plessis should be considered for the captain’s post.

It will be intriguing to watch if Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson chooses Glenn Maxwell or someone else in the end.

When the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) tweeted a photograph of themselves on Wednesday, they captioned it as: “Imaginary snapshot of the near future. 12th Man Army is ecstatic about the prospect of these two megastars working together.”

Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are both wearing RCB jerseys in the photo.

Given that Faf has yet to appear in an IPL game for RCB, the image is clearly manipulated.

For the upcoming season, the teams are working long and hard to gain attention from fans on social media, and this is certainly a novel method to give fans a taste of what they can anticipate in the upcoming Indian Premier League in 2022.
