India defeated England in the one-day international series 2-1, with Rohit Sharma leading the way.

Rohit Sharma led India to a 2-1 win over England in the one-day international series in their own backyard.

Rohit Sharma became only the third captain to win an ODI series in England after leading India to a five-wicket victory in the last one-day international against England. It was Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant’s 133-run partnership in the last one-day international that enabled India to win the series by two wickets in Manchester. Hardik Pandya (4/24) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3/60) both bowled masterful stints as India cruised to a 259-run victory.

The likes of Jos Buttler (60), Jason Roy (41), and Moeen Ali (34) made significant contributions to the home team’s success.

After Reece Topley ripped through India’s top order and put them in a precarious position, Pandya and Pant put on a match-winning 133-run partnership to give India the upper hand in their 260-run chase.

Other Indian ODI series winners in England include MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin.

India beat England 3-1 in an ODI series that Dhoni captained in their home backyard.

India won a one-day international series in England by an innings and a half in 1990, with Azharuddin captaining the side.

After bowling England out for 110 in the previous match, India went on to win this one by a margin of 10 wickets.

England bounced back in the second one-day international, winning by an innings and a hundred runs.

In the end, it was Pant’s century and Hardik’s all-around performance that gave India the decisive advantage.

India’s 2021-2022 England tour was a huge success. They tied the Test series 2-2 but won both the T20I and ODI series 2-1 in their respective formats. They prevented England from winning a series in any format, even at home.
