Australia has had a difficult time winning a series in India in the past, with their last victory coming in 2004.

Beginning on February 9, the first of four Test matches between India and Australia will be played at Nagpur. However, much has been said and written about the pitches even before the series begins, with ex-Australian stumper Ian Healy claiming that the visitors will win the series if India sets up a “decent” track. Healy, however, took the wrath of many active and retired cricketers for his remark on the field. As the first Test is about to begin on Thursday, Cricket Australia gave fans a sneak peek at the Nagpur surface.

Australia has had a hard time adapting to the circumstances in India in the past, as evidenced by the fact that the last time they won a series there was in 2004 and the fact that India has won the last three matches between the two teams, including twice in Australia.

Smith said, “it’s hard to win a Test match, let alone a series, in India.”

“A big accomplishment would be to bring down that mountain. Winning in India would be much more significant than winning the Ashes, in my opinion “stated so before the first Test started in Nagpur.

The visitors have been hit hard by injuries, losing Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, two of their best fast bowlers, while the home team is close to full health.
