Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam didn’t sugarcoat his team’s performance against India in the Asia Cup Super 4.
Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam was not happy with his team’s batting performance after their 228-run loss to India in the Super Four round of the Asia Cup. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored hundreds, and then Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets, helping India to a 228-run victory over Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday.
The weather was beyond our control, but we did what we could. Our batting and bowling performance fell short of expectations. They (the Indian openers) had a game plan for our bowlers and got things off to a good start, and Virat and Rahul followed suit. Babar admitted in the postgame press conference, “Our batting was not up to the mark,” despite the fact that “Jasprit and Siraj bowled well and swung the ball both ways” in the first ten overs.
After rain washed out most of Sunday’s play in the one-day international, Pakistan was forced to play on reserve day and ultimately lost by their most significant margin.
India won the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s after Pakistan’s Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf didn’t bat throughout their chase.
In their Asia Cup Super Four match against arch-rivals Pakistan, India scored 356/2 because of a vintage performance from Virat Kohli and an unrestrained century from KL Rahul.
Half-centuries from captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set the tone for India. Then an unbeaten 233-run partnership between Kohli and Rahul, capped off by a maximum from the former captain, provided the icing on the cake.
While Kohli batted for 94 deliveries and ended with an unbeaten 122, Rahul hammered 111 off 106.
