Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Afridi won't play in the 2022 Asia Cup.

Nassem Shah, a right-arm bowler who starred during the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands in Rotterdam, received Saqlain’s support for his performance in the Asia Cup.

Saqlain Mushtaq, the head coach of Pakistan, stated on Monday that losing Shaheen Shah Afridi to injury for the upcoming Asia Cup is a “huge setback,” but he still had faith in his bowling attack to perform admirably in the continental competition. Nassem Shah, a right-arm bowler who starred during the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands in Rotterdam, received Saqlain’s support for his performance in the Asia Cup. Shaheen has demonstrated themselves at the highest level and performed well against the best batters, so losing him is obviously a significant loss for us before the tournament and for the England series, according to Saqlain.

“Shaheen is a player of a caliber that is difficult to replace, but we have good resources and trust them to perform well for us.

“Because of the poise, aggression, attitude, and execution Naseem has shown in his bowling, I believe he is a star in the making. He has been excellent for us.” Naseem, who is yet to make his T20 debut, according to Saqlain, contributed to Pakistan’s nine-run victory in the most recent match.

“Naseem altered the game’s outcome, and the other bowlers gave him substantial assistance.

We hope that Afridi will quickly recover because we have a crucial cricket match coming up. Afridi will be replaced for the Asia Cup in the UAE by rookie fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, according to Pakistani selectors on Monday.

Former Test off-spinner Saqlain claimed that generally, Pakistan had a strong bowling arsenal that could compete with any team.

“We have all of our bases covered, and even though the fast bowlers lack experience, they are full of spirit and confidence.” Saqlain responded to questions regarding criticism of team selection practices by saying, “Performance is something that can happen or not happen, but we look at the attitude, hard effort in the nets, mental approach, and work ethics of a player before deciding to play him.”
