Cheteshwar Pujara gave appreciation to the Pakistani star he shared the County Championship stage with.
Currently, Cheteshwar Pujara is in a rich vein of form. He recently reached 5,000 runs in List A cricket. The veteran of India’s Test matches reached the milestone on Tuesday at Hove during Sussex’s One Day Cup match against Middlesex. During his team Sussex’s game against Middlesex, Pujara displayed a rarely seen side of himself by scoring 132 runs in just 90 balls while hitting 20 fours and two sixes. He had a fantastic strike rate of 146.66 when he was scoring runs. Pujara played for Sussex earlier in the season in the County Championship’s longer format as well.
Mohammad Rizwan, the Pakistan opener who is now in the UAE for the Asia Cup, joined him on the Sussex team. Pujara recently lauded Rizwan. He is a very kind guy and a brilliant cricketer, I loved my time with him, he said on Twitter.
Pujara also shared his thoughts on the declining popularity of ODIs. He was questioned on Twitter by a person who asked: “Do you think ODI cricket is losing its popularity?” Pujara answered, “Unfortunately, yeah, it is losing its appeal.”
Many observers believe that ODI cricket is the true loser in this situation as T20 franchise leagues proliferate around the globe. Many people have been speculating about the future of the 50-over format ever since England all-rounder Ben Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket. Many former cricket players have also voiced their concerns about the value that ODI cricket is or is not adding to the international schedule. Ravi Shastri, a former head coach of Team India, has even gone so far as to support proposals to shorten ODI overs, claiming that 50 overs has been the standard for far too long.
