For more than a decade, Dinesh Karthik has kept himself motivated by his desire to play for the Indian national side in a Twenty20 international series.
Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik says he is loving his return to the squad after an almost three-year absence. When India plays South Africa in a five-match T20I series, Karthik will be available for the two T20I matches later this month against Ireland. Kumar Karthik remarked that his desire to play for India for a decade or so has kept him going ahead of the fourth T20I against South Africa.
“The last three years, I’ve been peering out the window. ‘ To be a part of this group gives me a unique sense of fulfillment. Every second I have here is a gift, and I am glad for it. For the past decade or so, I’ve been fueled by the desire to return to India, wear the national colors, and represent the Indian national team, and that’s what has kept me going “BCCI tweeted a video of Karthik saying this.
As of now, Karthik has participated in all three T20Is, scoring 1(2), 30(21), and 6 (8).
A 48-run victory by India in Visakhapatnam gave India a 2-1 lead in the series after the first two matches.
The fourth T20I between the two teams will take place in Rajkot on Friday.
After a stellar IPL season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, 37-year-old Karthik returned to India. He excelled as a finisher and was instrumental in helping RCB reach the IPL 2022 playoffs.
Karthik scored 330 runs with an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of 183.33 in 16 matches. In terms of average and strike rate, it was his greatest season in the Indian Premier League.
