On-field scuffles between Jonny Bairstow and Virat Kohli during the Edgbaston Test have been discussed by England pace bowler James Anderson.
The delayed fifth Test between England and India at Edgbaston was won earlier this week, resulting in a 2-2 series outcome. England won the Edgbaston Test by chasing down 378 runs with the help of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root. In the first innings of the Test, the on-field spat between Jonny Bairstow and Virat Kohli drew the most attention. It’s now been discovered that Bairstow had made a remark to Anderson in the changing room about the Kohli-Bairstow row.
“The first innings had ended with Jonny being 80 runs not out, and Virat had been slapping him mercilessly. I’m not sure whether you saw the difference in his strikeout rate at this point in the game. The difference between Virat’s strike rate before and after he sledded him was roughly 20 runs “On the Tailenders Podcast, Anderson stated.
“‘When will they learn to shut it?’ were his first remarks back in the dressing room after lunch. Jonny Bairstow, as Jimmy Neesham phrased it in a tweet, is the player you don’t want to mess with if you want to get him into the game mode “she said.
Bairstow made just 13 from 61 balls and escaped a few close calls in his first innings. All of that changed, though, when Virat Kohli decided to engage Jonny Bairstow in a verbal duel. After several on-field spats, Bairstow smashed 93 off his next 79 balls to help England win the match.
An online video sensation was born when footage of Kohli and Bairstow going at it was uploaded to the internet.
“We’ve been competing against one other for the better part of a decade now. Everything about it is a hoot. On the field, we’re all about tough competition. We’re in a two-team competition in Test cricket. So, we play the game because it makes us better people. The goal is to bring your team over the finish line, no matter what it takes “Sky Sports News uploaded a video of Bairstow’s comments on Twitter.
