Brad Hogg, a former Australian spinner, believes that T20 cricket has disturbed Kohli’s long-term aims in the previous two years.
Many believe Virat Kohli may no longer be a lock for the Indian T20I team due to his recent struggles with the bat. The star batsman hasn’t hit a century since 2019 and his batting slump has become a hot topic in the city. The 33-year-old former India captain has been urged by some experts to take a vacation from international cricket; yet, others have expressed their support for Kohli regardless of their advice. Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg believes that T20 cricket has disturbed Kohli’s ambitions in the previous two years, in an exclusive chat with NDTV.
It is an interesting subject, and this is where the selectors must take a tough decision in order to understand the game,” Hogg said when asked about Kohli’s place in the team. I believe Kohli’s ambitions have shifted over the previous few years because he was looking at a section on one-day records and test records when he initially started.
What I mean by an international player or a good hitter is precisely what I’m referring to here.” He’s trying to figure out where he wants his batting to be and what goals he wants to accomplish since T20 cricket has interrupted those aspirations. His game has shifted toward the lengthier format, and he doesn’t want to break that emphasis by switching to the T20 format. Rather, when he talks about playing T20 cricket, he is referring to the international techs, in which case his defensive shots become time shots that result in offs or sixes. As a result, he possesses the necessary capabilities. That’s much work. That’s going to be a big one.”
It’ll be all about Kohli in the last one-day international against England on Sunday at Old Trafford in Manchester.
