Brilliant IPL performers like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal were favored over Sarfaraz Khan in India’s Test side.
Sarfaraz Khan, a batter for Mumbai, was once again left off of Team India’s roster for their impending trip to the West Indies. He has long been one of the most reliable batters in the domestic circuit, but he has yet to receive a call-up from India. In the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, he amassed 556 runs on 92.66 percent accuracy in six games, three of which were centuries. He scored 982 runs at an average of 122.75 in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season.
When former India batsman Aakash Chopra found out that Sarfaraz wasn’t picked, he took to Twitter to challenge the “sanctity of first-class cricket” and blast the selectors.
Will Sarfraz always be known as the guy who put up huge First-Class batting averages but was never called up by India? That better not be the case, please. I really hope he is told what he can do better to improve his chances of being selected. Chopra tweeted that if this were to happen, “the sanctity of first-class cricket (the heart and soul of Indian cricket) would be lost.”

Rohit Sharma will captain the side in both formats, with Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Pandya serving as his deputies in Tests and One-Day Internationals, respectively.
After a bad performance at the World Test Championship (WTC), final, seasoned hitter Cheteshwar Pujara was cut from the squad.
