Jay Shah
India won't be going to Pakistan for the 50-over Asia Cup, according to Jay Shah.

The former captain of Pakistan also urged the PCB to take a strong stance on the issue, adding that Pakistan should boycott the match if it is shifted to a neutral location.

Since the Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), said that India will not visit Pakistan for the 50-over Asia Cup in 2023, tensions between the two countries have been high. Shah added that the competition will take place in a neutral location. In retaliation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) vowed to boycott the ODI World Cup in India the following year in an official statement.

Younis Khan, a former captain of Pakistan, said on ARY News that Shah shouldn’t have made the statement because he not only represents the BCCI but the ACC as well.

Jay Shah shouldn’t have made these statements because he also represents the ACC in addition to the BCCI. Along with India, the ACC includes Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. “India vs. Pakistan is usually keenly anticipated by fans around the world, and I believe Jay Shah should have held off before making such a statement,” he said.

Additionally, Younis asked the PCB to take a strong stance on the issue and added that Pakistan should boycott the tournament if it were shifted to a neutral location.

“Now that the time has come to demonstrate our might, I would urge the PCB to take a strong stance on this subject. If we decide not to participate in the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India the following year, there won’t be any joy. Otherwise, we won’t participate if the event is moved to a neutral location. Earlier, we took a stance, and England, Australia, and New Zealand visited Pakistan.

On Sunday, October 23, India will play Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
