South Africa beat Bangladesh by 32 runs in the ICC Women’s World Cup match at Dunedin’s University Oval.

In the second match of the 2017 ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup, South Africa defeated Bangladesh by 32 runs at University Oval, Dunedin on Saturday. Ayabonga Khaka returned with four wickets in the victory. Shamima Sultana and Sharmin Akhter put on 27 runs in the first 10 overs of Bangladesh’s innings, which was enough to keep Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp at bay. The first-wicket stand ended up being 69 runs.

Bangladesh was reduced to 85/4 in the 27th over after the Proteas claimed four wickets in rapid succession. After that, Rumana Ahmed and Nigar Sultana teamed up to keep the scoreboard going steadily.

Seconds later, South Africa took two wickets in short succession and Bangladesh was reduced to 113/6, still, 95 runs away from the objective, despite the efforts of the duo.

In the end, South Africa was able to maintain its composure and win by a score of 32 runs.

Fariha Trisna took three wickets as Bangladesh bowled out South Africa for 207 earlier in the day. Two wickets apiece were taken by Jahanara Alam and Ritu Moni as the Proteas were bowled out for a score well below par.

Marizanne Kapp had 42 points, while Laura Wolvaardt had 41 for South Africa.
