As of Wednesday night, Kuldeep Yadav was officially ruled out of India’s five-match international series against South Africa.
Kuldeep Yadav, the Delhi Capitals’ star spinner from the IPL 2022, was selected for India’s five-match T20I series against South Africa because of his strong performance. However, Kuldeep was ruled out of the first T20I on Wednesday due to an injury to his right hand that he sustained while batting in the nets the day before. On Thursday, the spinner expressed his disappointment at missing out on the series and his excitement about returning even better next time.
“Due to an injury, I will not be able to participate in the South American series. However, I have complete faith in the team and will support them in every way possible. I’m looking forward to a better return “Kuldeep commented on Koo’s post.
As a member of Delhi Daredevils in the just-concluded IPL, Kuldeep took 21 wickets at an economy rate of 8.44 while averaging 19.95.
A right groin ailment has also ruled out captain KL Rahul from the series against South Africa.
Consequently, the All-India Senior Selection Committee selected wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant as captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain for the home series against South Africa.
KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav’s replacements have not been named by the selection committee. There will be an additional medical evaluation of the two cricketers and a determination on their treatment plans made at the NCA, where they will be required to report.
Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Umran Malik make up the Indian T20I squad, which also includes captain Rishabh Pant and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
