In anticipation of the IPL 2022 season, the Kolkata Knight Riders have hired Australian T20 World Cup captain Aaron Finch to replace Englishman Alex Hales.
Australian T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) season as a replacement for Alex Hales. According to an IPL news release dated Friday evening, Hales withdrew from the tournament due to “bubble fatigue.” Two hundred and fifteen half-centuries are among the 2,686 runs that Finch has amassed for Australia in 88 Twenty20 Internationals. KKR will pay Rs 1.5 crore for Finch, who has participated in 87 IPL games and scored more than 2000 runs in the competition.
The two-time IPL winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, will begin the IPL 2022 season against Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on March 26.
Before the IPL 2021 auction, Finch had been released by RCB after scoring 268 runs in 12 games.
The auction for the IPL 2022 saw a lot of bidding as franchises tried to put together the finest possible teams.
Some of the largest names in the business were auctioned off, and some interesting results were revealed. With a price tag of Rs 15.25 crore, Mumbai Indians purchased wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan in the IPL auction 2022.
Deepak Chahar cost Chennai Super Kings Rs 14 crore, while Shreyas Iyer was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for an eye-popping Rs 12.25 crore.
Shardul Thakur’s successful bid of Rs 10.75 crore made Delhi Capitals break the bank.
The ten teams sold 204 players and spent Rs 551.70 crore on them.
Finch, for example, was one of the major names that failed to find a buyer at the IPL auction.
