Harbhajan Singh has stated publicly that he does not have faith in KS Bharat’s batting. As a result, he is keen for India to have Ishan Kishan in the WTC final.
A debate has broken out among the Indian cricket community regarding who should play wicketkeeper for India in the ICC World Test Championship final versus Australia. There are positive and negative aspects to both KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan. Some people are rooting for Bharat, the “pure keeper,” while others are rooting for Ishan, who they say will have an “impact similar to Rishabh Pant.” Former cricket player and current commentator Harbhajan Singh changed his mind and now supports Ishan, despite previously siding with Bharat.
Harbhajan posted a video to his YouTube account arguing that Kishan, a batter for the Mumbai Indians, should start in place of Bharat because of Kishan’s better ability to deal with the new ball.
Why is Ishan Kishan more deserving than Bharat?
Since Ishan Kishan is better equipped to deal with the new ball than Bharat, I believe this will strengthen the batting lineup. He, too, is an opener, and he’s on fire right now. Bhajji had previously stated that Ishan might bat first when the second new ball was introduced (after 80 overs).
The former India spinner has also expressed doubts about Bharat’s batting ability.
Rishabh Pant and Ishan both have explosive-hitting abilities. “I don’t have much faith in Bharat’s batting,” Harbhajan admitted, despite Bharat’s prowess behind the stumps.
Harbhajan had previously stated that Bharat has “more experience” than Kishan during a discussion on Star Sports.
Not in my opinion. The Indian team has been using KS Bharat for a while now. I’d say “play him” if the role were offered to Wriddhiman Saha. He’s the superior custodian because of his expertise and skill. “Had KL Rahul been available, I would have started him ahead of KS Bharat,” Harbhajan had previously claimed.
