This player, in the opinion of New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips, will be a key component of India’s bowling attack on their visit to that country.

In T20 cricket, leg-spinners are in high demand, and New Zealander Glenn Phillips believes Yuzvendra Chahal will be a key component of India’s bowling assault on their trip to New Zealand. “Every T20 cricket team is searching for a match-winning leg spinner. We have Ish (Sodhi), Afghanistan has Rashid Khan, and every other team has a leg or wrist spinner available. These players are generally found in both the T20 circuit and international cricket.

“Chahal will likely be used as much as feasible by them (India). Although I am unable to predict the team’s composition, I have no doubt that he will be a key component of their offensive strategy.”

Philips believes that India will have a significant advantage in Wellington, where the opening T20 match will be played on Friday, due to Chahal’s ability to turn the ball both ways.

“In a small square-shaped field like Sky Stadium, he can turn the ball both ways. It is a great advantage if you can keep the batters wondering which way the ball is going. He should be important in the ODI and T20 matches, in my opinion.”

Less than a week after the T20 World Cup concluded, India and New Zealand were scheduled to play. While Phillips is eager to participate in the matches, he believes the bowlers are less than thrilled with the brief respite.

“Games that go swiftly are my favorite since you may either correct your bad habits or stick with them for a longer period of time. But given the tonnage they must carry, I suppose some bowlers would have appreciated a little bit more of a break.”

The 25-year-old emphasized the need of giving players time to recover in between their busy schedules.

“Going into a series, you want the men to be at ease and in good health. The juggling of leagues, domestic cricket, and international cricket means that sometimes the players will arrive exhausted and in need of a break.

They need a physical and mental break because they lead such a demanding lifestyle, so you must make sure you can fill those positions.
