Captain Joe Root of England took two spots for the second place in the ICC men’s test rankings while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are both fifth and sixth.
India skipper Virat Kohli and opening batsman Rohit Sharma remained strong at fifth and sixth places respectively, but Captain Joe Root of England rose two spots and took second place in the ICC’s men’s batting test rankings. Root’s brave 180 not in the first inning of Lord’s test took him to the top hitter, Kane Williamson, in the test rankings within a striking distance. The British Captain, who started the series against India in the fifth position after the first match and overcame Kohli, took two more spaces to secure second place after the Lord’s Test.
Root, a formerly top-ranked hitter, is only eight behind New Zealand skipper Williamson at 893 rating points.
The Lord’s Test player, KL Rahul, advanced to 19 places in the rankings after 129 runs in the first innings. The 29-year-old now stands at 37th.
Among bowlers, veteran pacer James Anderson moved up a place in the first innings at Lord’s after his five-roller journey towards India.
Mohammed Siraj and Mark Wood both leaped with the ball up the ladder. Siraj collected eight wickets while Wood received five at the second test. Siraj’s 38th, whereas Wood’s 37th.
In a test match that finished recently, Pakistan lost a West Indies thriller, but Babar Azam’s half a century in the second round saw him jump two spots to seventh.
Jermaine Blackwood won the first wicket test for the West Indies and claimed nine slots in 35th place after reaching a half-century in the second innings.
All-rounder Jason Holder has been ranking up to five points to 43rd while Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who missed three runs for the first inning of the century, has moved 18 places to 45th.
In bowling rankings, Holder also got inside the top 10. His four wickets pushed him to eighth place in the match.
Jayden Seales, a fast bowler, has risen from 39 positions to 58th after the 8 wrappings, and Kemar Roach has gone up to 11th.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi, a left-arm fast bowler, has gained four slots to reach 18th place in four wickets apiece while Faheem Ashraf has a capacity of four to seventy-one.
