On Wednesday, India’s men’s compound team stunned hosts South Korea to advance to the final of the Archery World Cup 2022 stage 2 in Gwangju. At first, the South Korean team appeared to be in command, but their aspirations were dashed by Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini, and Rajat Chauhan in a nail-biting tiebreak semifinal against the Indian three. Despite a two-point disadvantage in the fourth end of regulation, they were beaten 29 to 26 by India in the shootout.
In the bronze medal match, South Korea regained its best form, defeating Denmark 238-229.
Avneet Kaur, Muskan Kirar, and Priya Gurjar competed in the women’s compound event for India and won bronze. In the bronze medal playoff against Turkey, the Indian team came back from a late deficit to win 232-231 and clinch a podium berth on the podium.
