Darren Sammy claimed they need to “go through India” for any team to win the T20 World Cup.
Former Captain Darren Sammy of West India declared that India would be the “team to beat” during the forthcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE. Sammy claimed you must “cross India” at any ICC competition to get a crack at the trophy. India is drawn together with the arch-rivals Pakistan, New Zealand, and Afghanistan, plus two other teams that qualify from round one at the T20 World Cup Super-12 stage.
“India’s the best team. We heard from Dinesh Karthik – the experiment, their T20 players come to the international cricket, whether it from India’s domestic T20 cricket or IPL, you see all the countries going and getting the experience, “Sammy remarked game plan on the Star Sports show.
‘Apart from the World Cup, I believe it’s the most pressurized (competition) condition where the players are going to be under and the formula is being used by India,’ said the man who has chosen West Indians in two world cup triumphs.
“In 2016, before we left our homes, I, the coach and all the men stated, you’ll have to travel through India to win this tournament. Whatever the stage, whether this is the final, the half-final, you would have to go through India, “He remarked. He said.
“In any competition, you will have to go through India. You would have to cross India to win as you have seen in the past couple of ICC tournaments, whether it’s the Test Championship or ODI.”
On 17 October the T20 World Cup will begin, with the Super12 stage following on 23 October. India’s campaign will start on October 24 against Pakistan.
On 31 October, India will take over New Zealand, followed by Afghanistan on 3 November.
On November 5 and 7, India will play its final two Super12 matches.
