India vs England: Rishabh Pant’s work behind the stumps in the second Test against England earned him praise from one of the finest wicketkeepers in world cricket – Adam Gilchrist.
Rishabh Pant impressed everyone with his wicketkeeping skills on a fiery turner in the recently concluded second Test between India and England. Pant took two acrobatic catches in the first innings and then one-two stumping on the 4th day of the Chennai Test. Pant’s work behind the stumps praised former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist tweeted after Pant was ahead to complete a sharp stumping to send Dan Lawrence, “Yesterday it was faked, today it’s @Rishabhapant #brilliant.”
Pant took to Twitter on Wednesday and thanked Gilchrist for his appreciation.
Pant responded to Gilchrist saying, “Thanks Means is very useful for you.”
Pant was often criticized for possessing his skills, but 23-year-old Punyam produced a stunning performance behind the stumps at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Pant did not play in the first Test in Australia during India’s last tour down under last year.
He replaced Wriddhiman Saha in the Melbourne Test and since then he is a regular in the XI.
Pant played a key role in the series win in Australia. The left-handed batsman was the highest run-scorer for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
He scored 274 runs in three Tests at an average of 68.50, including an unbeaten 89 in the historic Gaba Test.
In the ongoing home Test series against England, Pant scored 168 runs with the help of two half-centuries.
