As of 2019, Gujarat Titans seamer Mohammed Shami has bowled his best overs in the powerplay portion of IPL matches, averaging nearly two dots per over.
IPL 2022 encounter between Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants saw Mohammed Shami grab wickets of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Manish Pandey earlier this week. No surprise that Shami ripped through the opposition’s batting order in the powerplay overs. Since the start of the 2019 Indian Premier League, Shami has shown to be a match-winner for his team time and time again.
With a dot ball percentage of 42.68, Shami has the fourth-most dot balls in the IPL’s cash-rich competition since the 2019 season. Shami has had 61 wickets in 43 games since the 2019 campaign.
The first six overs of the 2019 IPL saw Shami grab 17 wickets in the powerplay. In the last three IPL seasons, the seamer has also bowled the second-most dot balls in the powerplay phase.
Shami’s 3-10 against Lucknow Super Giants is the sixth-best powerplay score at Wankhede Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rahul Tewatia’s undefeated 40-ball innings helped Gujarat Titans upset Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets on Monday at Wankhede Stadium. When Gujarat needed five wickets, they had them with two balls to spare and chased down 159.
Ahmed Shami will be a major threat for Gujarat Titans when they take on Delhi Capitals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune this Saturday.
