Mitchell Marsh, Australia’s white-ball batting ace, will miss three months of action after he has surgery to repair a chronic left ankle problem.

On Friday, it was announced that Australian white-ball specialist Mitchell Marsh would be out for three months due to a chronic left ankle ailment that required surgery. On Thursday, the all-star underwent minimally invasive surgery to fix damaged cartilage and remove bone fragments. Marsh’s prospects of making Australia’s team for their tour of India in February-March were dealt a blow, and he will now miss the entire Twenty20 Big Bash League season for the defending champions, the Perth Scorchers. Mitchell is a vital part of our squads, and we will stand by him while he recovers, said chairman of selectors George Bailey.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he’ll be fit to play in March’s one-day international series against India.
