Virat Kohli officially joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad on Monday, after months of speculation about his whereabouts in the team’s camp in Mumbai. In his final year as captain, Kohli will attempt to build on his nine-year tenure as the team’s leader (from 2013 to 21). As of recently, Faf du Plessis has been named as the new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming season.
The first game of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on March 26 when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Kolkata Knight Riders.
For the first time in their history, RCB will be aiming to win the Indian Premier League this season. On March 27, the club will take on the Punjab Kings in their first game of the season.
RCB made the playoffs last season, but the team was unable to advance to the championship game. After announcing his intention to step down from the helm of the team in 2022, Kohli made the announcement during the 2021 UAE leg.
RCB kept Kohli ahead of the mega-auction, and the right-handed batter has repeatedly explained why the team holds special meaning for him over the years. Since the IPL’s beginning, Kohli has been a member of the team.
