It was inevitable that Dravid would be appointed India cricket team head coach after he had been persuaded by the BCCI’s top brass to take the job.
The head of the National Cricket Academy, a former right-handed batsman, has been given a two-year contract until the 50-over World Cup in India in 2023. Starting on November 17, he will assume command of the team for the upcoming home series against New Zealand.
Rohit, who scored 74 in India’s 66-run win over Afghanistan in a Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup, quipped: “He is a stalwart of Indian cricket and it will be nice working with him in the future.”
