Kieron Pollard has struggled against spinners recently, and he will have to be mindful of Rajasthan Royals’ spin-bowling attack in the IPL 2022 match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.
An unsuccessful IPL season last year led to a close defeat for Mumbai Indians in their opening game of the IPL 2022 against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were the only two MI batsmen who were able to get going against the DC spinners. Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians will play Rajasthan Royals in their next encounter, and it won’t be an easy one either.
Batters from MI will have to exercise caution when facing a retooled RR bowling staff.
Spinners have been a particular problem for Kieron Pollard recently. Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal have excellent records against Pollard.
Pollard has been sacked four times by both players in the IPL so far.
But MI’s standout hitter Suryakumar Yadav, who is a superior spin-bowler, might be available to play again for the team.
In the first game, Suryakumar had to be substituted because of a minor injury.
When RR took on SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), they were utterly merciless, winning by a score of 61 runs.
As the first team to bat, RR amassed 210/6 thanks to skipper Sanju Samson’s 51 off 27 balls and Devdutt Padikkal’s 41-run cameo.
SRH, despite Aiden Markram’s 57-run knock, could only manage 149 for seven in 20 overs in reply.
Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult each grabbed two wickets for RR, with Chahal taking three wickets.
