South Africa handily defeats Ireland by 33 runs in Monday’s opening 3-game Twenty20 International Series (T20I) in Dublin, Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi claimed four wickets. For visitors with 39, Aiden Markram scored the top and David Miller scored 28 when South Africa reached 165-7 in their 20 overs. Seven of the eight top batters were doubled after they asked tourists to bat, although no one made a huge mark. Ireland collapsed to 46-5 in response, with Harry Tector (36) showing resistance but wickets tumbling regularly, the hosts only being able to collect 132-9.
Shamsi, the top-ranked bowler in cricket T20, finished off his four overs with statistics of 4-27.
The teams meet Thursday and Saturday in Belfast.
The recent international one-day series between the sides was 1-1.
