After a misfield during Pakistan’s Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match against Australia on Tuesday, veteran Indian cricket team batter Shikhar Dhawan turned to social media to delightfully taunt the Pakistan cricket squad. Dhawan posted a video to X (previously known as Twitter) showing two fielders going for the same ball, but waiting for the other to collect the ball, so the ball went straight through the middle. This is just one of many hilarious examples of poor fielding efforts involving Pakistan over the years.

Dhawan wrote, “Pakistan & and fielding have a never-ending love story.

Earlier, Pakistani spin bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan predicted that the winning team would be the one with the best bowling unit, one that could restrict runs on India’s batting-friendly surfaces.

Pakistan’s spin attack, which the 24-year-old is leading, has been heavily criticized for failing to take wickets in the middle overs.

Shadab himself only took six wickets in five Asia Cup games last month, four of which came against the tournament’s underdog Nepal before Pakistan was eliminated in the Super Four stage.

The World Cup begins on Thursday, but Shadab is optimistic that Pakistan’s bowlers can make a comeback.

The pitches should result in huge totals, thus I predict the side with the greatest bowling will win the World Cup, Shadab said at a press conference.

Pakistan lost to New Zealand by five wickets in their first practice match on Friday.
