Rohit Sharma
The second Test against Bangladesh will not include Rohit Sharma or Navdeep Saini.

A lingering ailment has forced Rohit Sharma out of the second Test against Bangladesh. The BCCI has announced that KL Rahul will retain his position as captain.

The Indian team would be missing both skipper Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Navdeep Saini for the second Test against Bangladesh. He hurt his thumb during the ODI series and it hasn’t fully healed. The BCCI stated in a statement that Rohit will not be participating in the second Test and hinted that Sanii may also be unable to play. Following his injury to his left thumb in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka, “Rohit Sharma is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team,” the organization announced in a press release.

According to the medical staff, the Indian captain needs more rest before he can return to full batting and fielding duties. The second and final Test against Bangladesh will pass without him as he continues his rehabilitation.

Due to discomfort in his abdominal muscles, Navdeep Saini will also miss the second Test. According to the announcement, “the fast bowler will now report to the NCA for further management of his injury.”

Earlier on Monday, it was reported that India’s captain, Rohit, would be unavailable due to lingering soreness from a thumb injury he sustained in the second one-day international of the series. Even though Rohit batted lower in that game, he stated that the ailment wasn’t looking good.

After that, Rohit took a flight to Mumbai to consult with a specialist there. Because of this, he was not able to play in the final One-Day International of the series, and his participation in Tests is now very much in doubt.

India, having already won the first Test against Bangladesh by an overwhelming margin, will likely attempt to win the second Test as well.

The Indian team for the second Test against Bangladesh has been updated.

Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Saurabh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and KL Rahul (C).
