Yashpal Sharma passed away on Tuesday due to a heart arrest.
In a statement issued by the BCCI on Tuesday, they expressed sadness at the passing of a former India batsman and one of the greatest players to have ever donned the Indian national team uniform, Yashpal Sharma. Besides winning the World Cup in 2011 with India’s 2011 World Cup squad, Yashpal was also a notable national selector, who was part of the panel that selected the team. “I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Yashpal Sharma. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of one of our sporting heroes. In addition, Ganguly also sent a tweet congratulating the cricket team that won the World Cup.
He went from being a good servant of Indian cricket to a great one in the space of two months.
