RCB versus MI: Glenn Maxwell made his debut for the Royal Challengers Bangalore after missing the first three games of the IPL 2022 season.
Glenn Maxwell returned to the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 lineup on Saturday after missing the first three games of the season due to a groin injury. The Australian all-rounder demonstrated excellent fielding and remarkable accuracy to effect a critical run-out against the Mumbai Indians. Tilak Varma tapped the ball in front of short cover and went off for a single in the 10th over of the innings. Maxwell sprinted toward the ball, dove, and threw an underarm throw that connected with the ball.
Another impressive aspect of his performance was the fact that he only had one stump at which to aim, allowing him to do so with ease.
Glenn Maxwell’s attempt to run out Tilak Varma is worth a look.
RCB won the toss and choose to bat first in their encounter against MI.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma made a promising start for Mumbai, but they quickly succumbed to a five-wicket loss in four overs and 12 runs.
But Suryakumar Yadav saved them with his second half-century in a row, helping them record the score of 150/6.
RCB was helped by two wickets each from Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga.
RCB’s chase got off to a poor start, but Anuj Rawat stepped up the ante.
Immediately after Jaydev Unadkat had dismissed Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli stepped in and seized over.
It was Kohli and Rawat who kept RCB on track, as the latter scored his first IPL half-century.
Rawat’s 66 off 47 was a good effort, but RCB was already in a commanding lead.
Dewald Brevis claimed a wicket with his maiden IPL delivery, but Maxwell blasted back-to-back boundaries in the following two balls to secure victory for the Mumbai Indians in the penultimate over.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have won three in a row, while the Mumbai Indians are winless so far this year.
