Prithvi Shaw became the fourth player to score a double century in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Prithvi Shaw scored his first List A double century in the group stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy between Mumbai and Puducherry on Thursday. Shaw completed his double ton at a strike rate of 140.85 in 142. deliveries. The 21-year-old hit 27 fours and four sixes. Shaw is the fourth batsman to score a double century in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is the eighth Indian to score List A double century. Shaw, who remained unbeaten on 227 (152 balls), recorded the highest score by a captain in men’s List A cricket. He is leading Mumbai for the first time in this match against Puducherry.
The batsman last represented the Indian team in the recently concluded four-match Test series against Australia.
The 21-year-old was selected in the line-up for the opening Test. However, he failed to make much of an impact in both innings after being dismissed for one run and four runs respectively.
Shaw did not get a chance in the remaining three Tests of the series, with Shubman Gill getting a chance.
Shaw has not been named in the Indian team for the upcoming five-match T20I series against England.
Group stage matches in the ongoing edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy will conclude on 01 March.
They will be followed by the Eliminator and four quarter-finals respectively. While the eliminator will take place on March 07, the four quarter-finals will take place on 08 and 09 March.
The semi-finals and finals will take place on 11 and 14 March respectively.
