James Anderson collected three wickets in the first 3rd test session
Anderson lost to KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli.
India concluded the 1st session at 56 for four after opting for bat
England versus India: James Anderson was delighted that he took Virat Kohli’s key wicket early on the first day of the 3rd test.
James Anderson is always a mouthwatering contest and, following the second test, Virat Kohli was focused on the Indian captain as he went out to fight India with four to two. Kohli reached a limit and cautiously played 16 balls, but the experienced British pacer threw one full out of the stump and managed to bait the Indian Skipper into a poor shot. The ball took Kohli’s bat’s outside edge and landed behind the stumps in Jos Buttler’s grasp. After receiving Kohli’s huge wicket, Anderson seemed charged as he celebrated with his teammates.
The footage of the dismissal was tweeted by England Cricket’s Twitter handle as “We hope @jimmy9 enjoyed this!”
Kohli had previously won the toss in the third test and decided to bat at Headingley.
The decision quickly reverberated, as Anderson set the tone for himself as he removed the century for a four-ball duck from Lord’s test KL Rahul.
Just a few times later, the 39-year-old managed to get Cheteshwar Pujara’s bat out of the game and push India back in the early stages. Pujara made one. He made one.
On Day 1 stroke Ollie Robinson brought up Ajinkya Rahane’s wicket to end the 35-run stand.
The first session ended with Rohit Sharma at 56/4, not 15.
