Chris Gayle’s strong six are trending against Jason Holder
Gayle scored 12 runs with 9 balls, one four, and six.
CPL 2021: Maybe Chris Gayle didn’t set stage on Thursday night, but he smacked one that was talking to cricket fans.
Chris Gayle made his comeback for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Thursday in the second match of the current CPL in 2021. Although Gayle didn’t remain at the pit for long, he pleased his fans by hitting a massive six off the bowling of Jason Holder. The hit of the West Indian batter drove the audience into a frenzy, shattering the adjoining glass pane. The video was shared on the official CPL 2021 Twitter feed. “The Universe Boss Chris Gayle SMASHING HIT,” the CPL subtitled the post.
The handling of the Instagram Caribbean Premier League shared an image of the broken window.
“Chris Gayle hit Jason Holder on a terrific six,” another amateur cricket player commented on Twitter along with Gayle’s six footage.
After their below-par performance in the previous season of the league, Gayle was added to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots team for CPL 2021 where they finished at the bottom of the table, having won only one match in 10 games.
Gayle led St Kitts and Nevis Patriots as captain at the CPL 2017 final. He could not however steer them to the glory of the CPL as they lost the final to Trinbago Knight Riders.
And, it seems, Gayle’s appearance is already doing great things for the team, since on Thursday they won their tournament opener by 21 runs in Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, against the Barbados Royals.
Gayle got 12 runs with nine balls, one four and one six.
In their next game, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be fighting the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Saturday 28 August in the sixth CPL 2021 fixture.
