With Sam Billings at the crease for South Africa, England A, he showed off some impressive wicketkeeping.
During England A’s practice match versus South Africa at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury, Sam Billings made a spectacular catch. A back-of-a-length ball from England’s Craig Overton was edged by Dean Elgar while trying to play his stroke on the front foot during the opening day’s four-day event. In a split-second dive, wicketkeeper Billings snatched the ball from between first slip and Billings before it hit the ground.
Billings was praised on social media by England Cricket for his spectacular catch. The caption stated, “What a grab @sambillings.”.
The catch by Sam Billings to get rid of Dean Elgar is worth a look.
In August, England and South Africa will face off in a three-match Test series, with the first match taking place at Lord’s in London on August 17. Old Trafford in Manchester hosts the second match on August 25, while London’s Kennington Oval hosts the third match, which takes place on September 8.
Both teams have played six white-ball matches before the Test series begins. After losing the first game of the three-match ODI series, South Africa claimed a 2-1 victory against India in the T20I series, even though they had lost the opener.
