Ajinkya Rahane returned to the hut with a score of 167/3, and Rishabh Pant stepped out to bat. At this point in time, Rahane has finally revealed what he said to Pant as he stormed the field of play in an apparent attempt to take guard and how he asked him to just see out the session until tea.
With a wounded and broken India defying all odds, the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy was one of the most remarkable Test series ever. The series was equal at 1-1 going into the fourth Test at Gabba, where wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant spearheaded India’s onslaught in the last session to chase down 328. Australia had not lost at the Gabba for 32 years before to India’s triumph over the Australians.
Ajinkya Rahane was sent back to the pavilion with the score at 167/3 when Pant stepped out to bat. Since then, Rahane has recounted what he said to Pant before taking guard and how he asked him to finish the session before tea, almost a year and a half later.
“Rishabh Pant entered the changing room as I was returning to my seat. So, I told him, there are 15 minutes left before tea, so make the most of them as you can. You can also stay on the pitch and lie down if you like. I won’t reveal anything to you till, after tea, I promise “On Voot Select’s recently-released docuseries ‘Bandon Mei Tha Dum,’ Rahane stated.
The entire team was scared as Pant stepped out to bat, according to pacer Mohammed Siraj.
During the fourth episode of the Docuseries, Siraj said, “We were all nervous when Rishabh went out to bat.”
In the end, Pant spearheaded India’s attack, and Team India successfully chased down 328 to win the series.
Some of India’s leading cricketers had been sidelined due to injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The likes of T Natarajan and Washington Sundar earned their Test debuts in the final match.
