Shadab Khan, a spin-bowling all-rounder, made a superb one-handed grab while the ball appeared to be going over his head.
On Wednesday, the opening one-day international of the three-match series between Pakistan and the West Indies was held in Multan for the first time in nearly 14 years. Shaheen Shah Afridi completed a return catch to dismiss West Indies’ in-form hitter Kyle Mayers in the third over after they choose to bat. Before Shamarh Brooks was bowled by Mohammad Nawaz on 70, Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks shared 154 for the second wicket. In the end, a spectacular catch by Shadab Khan led to Brooks’ ejection from the game.
Nawaz slowed down the throw when Brooks sought a sweep. That’s why he ended up mistiming his shot, which ended up flying right at short third base.
Shadab, a spin-bowling all-rounder, made a one-handed grab while it appeared that the ball was about to get away from him.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official Instagram account shared the video of Shadab’s catch.
PCB captioned the video, “Nawaz gains the breakthrough thanks to a one-handed stunner from Shadab.”
Pooran and King failed to make an impact after Brooks’ dismissal, allowing West Indies to lose two wickets in rapid succession.
Despite the wickets falling, Hope maintained his composure and went on to achieve a century at the other end.
Haris Rauf ultimately threw him out with a 127.
